"WW II era air raid siren"

Today, using Google, we can learn more than we really care to know about almost anything...

Apparently there are people who were there at the time that state that the air raid siren was placed there sometime in the 1950's.  I have no reason to doubt them.  It was NOT labeled "Acme Air Raid Siren" but at least we agree that's what it was.  Well, not the Acme part, but otherwise...

I haven't gotten into who built the tower and who it was named after, even though I had looked it up the old fashioned way back in the '60s.  I'm writing a history of the movie serial "Return of the Copperhead," not a history of the Bancroft Tower.  It's not critical to me precisely when the siren was put there.  When I said "WW II era" I was being descriptive.  It sounded better than just "old."

If you're looking for a reliable history of "Return of the Copperhead" then you've come to the right place.  If you're looking for a reliable history of the Bancroft Tower then I suggest you utilize the aforementioned Google to find one elsewhere.
