#1001 EP. 1-3. 2. CONTINUED: BOB: I assure you, Mr. Landers, that three years with Uncle Sam's travelling show would sharpen anyone's capabilities. MAXWELL: (rising to greet him) Bob. I'm glad you're here. Of course yow know the Committee members. BOB: Sure. We met when I helped on that hi-jacking case last year. MAXWELL: Yes, certainly. I remembered. I assume you overheard my proposal, too. BOB: No, but I guessed when you sent for me that you were going to offer me the position with your committee left open by my father's murder. (THE GROUP REACTS) Yes, gentlemen, I'm quite aware of the fact that his death was deliberate. Also I'm aware of the capabilities of an enemy who would commit mass murder and destruction to eliminate one man. MAXWELL: Then, you'll accept the position? BOB: I can only thank you for the chance. If you don't mind I'll use my father's office and, in order to maintain secrecy, I'd like to have Jeff Stevens working with me. He was my roommate at the University, and has been working with me and Professor Parker. MAXWELL: That sounds reasonable, Bob. Anything else you require? |
